Khalil Allaik
"Inspiration II"
Exhibition
Dates
September 5 - through October 1 First Friday Opening Reception
September 5th- 7:00 - 10:00pm
Khalil Allaik, an internationally known artist who has exhibited throughout the Middle East, is back at Bethlehem's Monsoon Gallery with a new show. "Inspiration II," his third solo show at Monsoon opens with a First Friday celebration on September 5 and concludes at the end of the month.
Allaik is a world traveler - a native of Lebanon, Beirut who has exhibited in the U.S. and Canada. The inspiration for his art, however, is often the result of a trip within himself. "I close my eyes. I dive within. I realize that the inner space is deep and infinite," he says. "There, inside, I travel."
These inner travels result in paintings which are like vibrant dreams, full of color and shapes which call to mind the work of Kandinsky and other masters of abstraction. Bright acrylic colors form dazzling geometric forms in stunning compositions.
Allaik's new solo show also includes ink sketches and an impressive selection of sculptures. Several free-standing sculptural "families" are sure to be a highlight of the Monsoon exhibit. The sculptures are abstract and whimsical yet nonetheless full of emotion and life. Allaik uses a variety of tools to create these mixed media creations, making use of natural materials in addition to acrylics and ceramics. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation and a ready-to-own work of art.
Painter, sculptor, designer, artist. Khalil Allaik has traveled around the world and into his own soul to create "Inspraton II," at Monsoon Galleries for one month only.
