Corey Hudson was born in the small town of Kenosha,
Wisconsin near the chilly waters of Lake Michigan in 1970. In 1988 he moved to Clearwater,
Florida, where he majored in fine arts and beach lounging at St. Petersburg College.
For the next 10 years he survived as a freelance artist and musician, with countless shows
throughout southern Florida.

In 1997 Corey moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he worked with an interior design firm as a designing
contractor. In 2003 painting took a back seat as he started his own business and family.
In the past 2 years he has found time to dedicate to his real passion, which has always been painting. In 2006 he had
several successful group shows in south Florida and a successful local show at the Apollo Grill in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
All current works are achieved through multiple layers of tinted plaster. Up to 30 thin layers are applied, burnished,
and sanded between coats to achieve a variation of textures, tones, and sheens. These pieces seem to blend the line between
traditional landscapes and abstraction. In addition, they tend to focus as much on the color and texture as they do on the
seemingly simple subject matter. All works tend to highlight simplicity, with the tendency to overlook the unnecessary and
accentuate the essential.
“Corey Hudson’s pieces are unique, as modern means merge with complex simplicity. His pieces fit as beautifully in a
modern city loft as they do in a rustic beach house.” ---Timothy Henry, Senior Designer, Fienberg and Henry Designs
