education at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in St. Petersburg, where she concentrated on classical
painting, drawing and decorative textiles. While a student, she frequently worked in Western Europe,
creating plein-air paintings, and exhibited at a number of quality galleries there. She graduated with a
Master of Arts in 1995. After graduation, Katya worked as an editor, artist, travel writer and photographer,
primarily for One Hundred Ways magazine in St. Petersburg.
She moved to the United States in 1998, while
keeping a residence in Russia, and started exhibiting her work in American galleries. In 1999 Katya was
inducted into the League of Designers of Russia, becoming a candidate for the League of Artists of Russia
the following year. She has continued to study classical painting, notably in a master class at I.E. Repin's
Academy in St. Petersburg and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Today Katya maintains studios in both
Philadelphia and St. Petersburg and exhibits at top galleries in Europe and the United States. Quite a few of
her paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the world. |
