Vernie Bolden graduated from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a degree in art in 1990 and currently lives in Virginia. He believes that art is simply a means of creative expression and in his work explores the idea of fusing the dynamic nature of music with the

lyrical aspects of the spoken word. The son of a preacher, Vernie finds inspiration in how words can be linked in such a manner as to recall the emotions touched by notes spilling from musical instruments. The challenge is in capturing this relationship with paint on canvas.
